The Theory of Active Databases vs. The SQL Standard
نویسندگان
چکیده
The concept of triggers has been used for almost thirty years. But taking into account the fact that the active database theory kept developing during the years, it is even more and more obvious that existing database management systems do not keep the pace with the theory i.e. there is an obvious gap between the theory and the practice. The paper deals with the theory of active databases; we will show what has been done in the theory, what are the lacks of some existing database management systems, and what defines the SQL 2003 standard in that context.

Active Learning: An Approach for Reducing Theory-Practice Gap in Clinical Education
Introduction: The gap between theory and practice in clinical fields, including nursing, is one of the main problems that many solutions have been suggested to eliminate it. In this article, we have tried to investigate its solution through active learning. Methods: In this review article, searching articles published during 2000-2012 was done through library references, scientific databases. ...
متن کاملارتباط فعالیت بیماری لوپوس اریتماتوز سیستمیک (SLE) با فعالیت مسیر کلاسیک کمپلمان (CH50)
Background: The components of the classical complement pathway play an important role in the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and are reportedly useful biomarkers of disease activity. In this study, we evaluate disease activity, complement function (total hemolytic complement, CH50) and complement protein levels (C3, C4, C3d, C4d, SC5b-9), comparing the results of patients wit...
متن کاملV.4: Sql/tp|a Temporal Extension of Sql
We use constraint technology as a basis for SQL/TP, a sound temporal extension of SQL. In contract to most of the earlier proposals, SQL/TP has clean syntax that is consistent with standard SQL, and unambiguous semantics that is rooted in the theory of constraint databases. We also deene a meaningful way of handling aggregation and duplicates, and provide an eecient implementation path on top o...
متن کاملStandardizing the Querying Process with SGML The SQL DTD
One of the most exciting applications of SGML which has emerged in the recent years is its use in document databases. The structural information embedded in SGML documents makes it possible to query SGML documents and extract information in an automatic manner; however, this querying process has not been standardized. As a result, different SGML database implementations use their own query lang...
متن کاملSoftware Architecture OCL2Trigger: Deriving active mechanisms for relational databases using Model-Driven Architectureq
Transforming integrity constraints into active rules or triggers for verifying database consistency pro duces a serious and complex problem related to real time behaviour that must be considered for any implementation. Our main contribution to this work is to provide a complete approach for deriving the active mechanisms for Relational Databases from the specification of the integrity constrain...
